90 Day Dental Assistant Course FAQ

By reducing our overhead we were able to reach our goal to make our dental assisting program more accesible to those who are looking for a fast career change, save money and get back to work after COVID.
Our course covers the day-to-day functions and duties of being a dental assistant. You will learn from lecture videos featuring Dr. Fulcher and other highly experienced clinical instructors. Along with the lectures, there are supplemental videos of techniques and actual procedures such as sterilization, room set-up, taking x-rays, fillings, extractions, crowns, and more. You will also receive training on how to use Dentrix, the nation’s #1 dental software. By having online lectures, you can pause, rewind, and even rewatch lectures as needed.

Our online course is divided into 12 lectures, with each lecture consisting of video trainings, assigned textbook readings, a study guide, and a quiz. There are two exams: a midterm exam and a final exam. All assessments (both quizzes and exams) must be completed with a grade of 70% or higher. However, we offer unlimited reattempts on our assessments because we want you to succeed! All course content must be completed with a passing grade in order to complete the course. “>Watch the course in action!

We give you 12 months access to complete our program. Most students finish in 90 days, giving you plenty of time to complete the course at your pace. There are two convenient payment options, depending on your needs.

  • A one-time, pay-in-full option of $500
  • 2 monthly payments of $325

There are some things that you will need to purchase (or rent) on your own, not included in the tuition cost. These items are based on individual needs/sizes and therefore are the responsibility of the student. The items are as follows:

  1. The textbook that corresponds with the course. The textbook is titled Modern Dental Assisting, 11th Ed. by Bird Robinson. Paperback, hardcover, or digital is acceptable.
  2. Scrubs. If your externship is at a 90 Day Dental Assistant location, you will need to purchase a pair of plain black scrubs.
  3. Close-toed shoes.
The only requirement is that you must be at least 17 years of age to enroll in our program. You can enroll anytime by visiting https://mydentalschool.com/enroll. You simply fill out your personal information along with your payment of choice through our website. Once we have successfully received your payment, you are enrolled and can start learning immediately!

Yes! While you are taking the online course, we highly recommend you complete 40 hours of a clinical experience externship to apply what you have learned from the course (though the externship is optional, not required). A clinical externship bridges the gap between the online coursework and working as a dental assistant. This externship can be completed at one of our dental office locations (located in Arizona), or at a dental office near you, per the dental office’s approval. See our How to Find an Externship page for more information.

We have courses which teach you about resume writing, interviewing skills, and overall how to land your job as a dental assistant. We know what dental offices want, and we coach you through the entire process to help you feel confident. Many of our students do so well at their externship sites that the externship converts into their first job. We can show you how!
Most of our students finish the program in 90 days, however, we allow you 12 months of unlimited access! The curriculum is completely self-paced and individualized to what is best for you. We designed the course with you in mind – it’s flexible and able to meet YOUR needs.

After all online coursework has been successfully completed and passed, you will receive a certificate of completion, recognizing your efforts in the program. This certificate can be presented to future employers as you are seeking work.

Dental assistants are currently in high demand and are essential to the dental field! Although we cannot guarantee employment, our graduated students have secured employment easily and quickly. We are here to help you with both your education needs and your career steps. And, if it’s a good fit, we love to hire our graduated students so keep that in mind
Each state has its own requirements which dental assistants must adhere to. State-by-state requirements for dental assisting can be found by going to https://www.danb.org/Meet-State-Requirements.aspx. Students are responsible for understanding and ensuring that they meet their state requirements.
